Video Call — Delete your account

Two ways to delete: the fastest way is in-app — open Profile → Delete account, confirm once, and you're done. If you can't reach the in-app flow, scroll to §3 and email us; we will action verified requests within 30 days.

1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)

Step 1. Open the Video Call app on your Android device and sign in to the account you want to delete.
Step 2. Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
Step 3. Scroll to the bottom of the settings list.
Step 4. Tap 🗑️ Delete account. A confirmation sheet appears explaining what will happen.
Step 5. Tap Delete forever to confirm. The app signs you out, the server-side account is anonymised immediately, and you are returned to the welcome screen.

2. What gets deleted, and what we keep

Some data is purged immediately. A small subset is retained for the minimum period required for legal, financial-audit, and safety reasons — and is anonymised so it can no longer be linked back to you.

Match history (calls you participated in)Retained for up to 12 months in anonymised form, then deleted. Required so that reports against a peer remain actionable for the safety of other users.
Reports made against youRetained for up to 24 months in anonymised form. Required for repeat-offender enforcement.
Coin ledger entries (in-app virtual-currency audit trail)Retained for 7 years per typical financial-audit retention; anonymised so they reference an opaque tombstone, not your identity.

3. Delete by email (if you can't use the app)

If you cannot reach the in-app flow — for example because you are locked out, the app crashes on launch, or you've already uninstalled — write to us:

We acknowledge receipt within 72 hours and complete verified requests within 30 days (45 days in California per CPRA). The service is free.

4. After deletion — what happens if you come back

If you sign in again with the same Google account after deleting, you will be treated as a brand new user — a fresh server-side user id is minted, the starter coin balance is granted, and none of your previous profile, matches, or follows are restored. This is by design and required by Google Play's "delete means delete" policy.

5. Cancelling WINK Pro

Account deletion does not automatically cancel an active WINK Pro subscription, because subscriptions are managed by Google Play and not by us. To stop being billed:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on the same device.
  2. Tap your profile icon (top-right) → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  3. Find "WINK Pro" in the list and tap Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the prompts to confirm.

Cancelling stops future billing — your Pro entitlement remains active until the end of the period you've already paid for, after which it lapses automatically. If you also delete your account, the paid-but-unused Pro window is forfeited.

6. Children's accounts

Video Call is an 18+ service. If you are a parent or guardian who has discovered an account associated with a minor, please email us at the contact address above with the subject line "Minor Account Deletion — Video Call" and the approximate sign-in method (Google email or device). We will delete the account on a priority basis without requiring it to be signed in to.
